Product Description
This Hydronic Heating Combo Package with Solar Assist is perfect for small heating loads with Domestic Hot Water.
This Solar Assist / Heating Combo Package is designed for Solar Hot Water Applications and our Indirect Storage Tank comes with two heat exchangers. The top heat exchanger is for the back up heat souce, which in this case is a Takagi T-D2-IN Gas Tankless Water heater. The bottom heat exchanger is connected to solar panels or Solar Evacuated Tubes. In addition, this tank has 80 gallons of storage so it can handle 2 flat panels or 30 Solar Evacuated Tubes or so. Please note: The more panels or tubes - the more storage water you will need.
Our Combo Package used a stainless steel tank for two reasons.
First, the tank acts as a buffer tank and keeps the Takagi T-D2-IN from short cycling. This allows the Takagi to run more efficiently and last longer.
Secondly, the Stainless Steel Heat-Flo Tank will outlast steel tanks and with it's heating coil - the Domestic Hot Water and Heating Water never mix. This is called a closed-loop heating system. The Domestic Water comes from the tank - and the Heating Loop goes through the internal Heat Exchanger. Simple - Elegant - Economical!
How it works
The Heating Side of our Hydronic Heating Combo Solar Assist Package will give you up to 40,000 Btu for heating side at water tempertaures of 180 degrees or lower. As for the Domestic Hot Water you will have 80 gallons of hot water storage and the Takagi T-D2-IN will recover with nearly 90,000 Btu's.
The Solar side will give you as much as the panels or Evacuated Tubes can deliver - in most cases typical 2 panel / 40 tube array will give you from 40,000 to 60,000 Btu's during a typical sunny warm day. This is generally enough hot water for a typical family of 2 to 4 people with the Takagi T-D2-IN filling in when the solar can't generate enough hot water.
